A hands-on review of the NC20 Netbook from Samsung

THE NEW GIGABYTE 10.1 MOBILE NOTEBOOK Touch Note T1028M– a 10.1 swivel touch screen notebook, which uses a swivel screen with LED backlighting that offers both the capabilities of a notebook and tablet PC in one and offers a broader usage model and caters for a wider variety of users.
Among the features are Windows XP Home, a resolution of 1024×600 on the LCD, and a four-Cell battery that provides up to four hours of battery life.
The recommend retail price will be approx R6999, and this unit is going to set the notebook market alight with its unique design and stylish looks.
The TouchNote T1028M screen can be rotated 180° and transforms into a fully functional tablet pc. Thanks to the non-standard 1024×600 resolution, and LED Backlighting, the touch screen provides a clear and bright image, while saving precious battery life.
A proper tablet pc or notebook operating environment is supported depending on the orientation of the screen.
This sleek yet stylish beauty uses the Intel Atom N270 processor providing the best balance of performance and battery life.
A sleek bronze look material is used for the LCD cover of the notebook as well as the interior surfaces, which gives the notebook a perfectly matched style and radiates classiness.
The notebook utilises the popular Windows XP Home platform and features extensive connectivity including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and Express Card support.
It features a 2.5 160GB SATA hard drive for maximum performance. A 1.3 Megapixel Web cam is built-in and includes a microphone as well as stereo speakers with 1.5w of power making it the perfect e-conference product, and perfect for instant video messaging. It also features 3.5G HSDPA upgradability, allowing the user complete freedom to access the internet anytime and anywhere.
The list of features is both impressive and extensive, and the styling and design of the T1028 series cannot be emphasized enough and is a sight to behold. Another example is the durable yet easy-touch material used on the keyboard, which is also 92% the size of a normal notebook keyboard providing a comfortable typing platform and it has wider keys to ensure that no keystroke is missed. The function key serves a dual purpose and can be used not only for control of notebook functions but also to launch the GIGABYTE exclusive Smart Manager Interface with which consumers can easily control and modify the user mode themselves. Another unique and enhanced feature is the battery level function, which can be used even when the notebook is fully shut down, to check the charge level of the battery to see just how much life is still available. For users that require longer battery life there is an extended 6-Cell battery that provides up to 6.5 hours battery life to ensure that they can work for longer.
