I am looking at EeePC 1005 in particular HR and PE models. HR has good screen resolution (1366 x 768), PE has good battery life due to its N450 processor.

EeePC 1005HR has good screen resolution and okay battery (7 hours)

EeePC 1005PE has good battery life (14 hours) and okay screen

My question is wouldn’t it nice to have best of two worlds ie. 1366 x 768 resolution on a N450 processor, that way battery life will be about 10 hours.

Does EeePC make such a model (high res with N450)? or is there any netbook out there with similar specs? (ie. high resolution and ultra long battery life).

I believe I found what you are looking for, it is the EeePC 1005PR.

Compared to the battery life of the 1005PE, these are the results I found on Cnet.com

The 1005PE managed 8 hours and 25 min. and the 1005PR managed 6 hours and 45 min on their video playback battery drain test. (you will get longer battery life doing less demanding things.) So the battery life of the 1005PR with the hi-rez screen is only 20% behind the 1005PE, compared to the 1005HR which is 50% behind.

The N450 is the processor that you are looking at and most likely not the source of the resolution for the HD netbooks. Unfortunately because higher resolutions require more powerful graphic processors they lose battery much quicker. 6-cell batteries are the largest at the moment for netbooks so you won’t be able to upgrade that.

You’re only option (if you can’t settle for one or the other) is to wait it out. Technology is moving really fast with these laptops, maybe with OLED screens or more efficient graphic processors you’ll get the battery life you are hoping for

Get a full featured lap top.
Net Books have low/medium screen resolution, slow processor, limited ram memory, basic graphics/video card.
Good for surfing net, e-mail, basic work, cheap, small, light/portable.
