I am looking to buy a netbook, but don’t know too much about them. I have read reviews and they are all over place from I like them to i hate them. I have been thinking about getting one and the primary use would be at work to put all my music and use it as a large MP3 player, take notes and maybe play solitaire on my break. Would a netbook be able to accomplish these tasks? Also are they able to play movies back?

I have an Acer 8.9 inch screen. I burn dvds with an external burner, watch movies from either the hard drive or the external dvd. I use it to get online, and play music. It’s not suitable for high end games, but who wants to game on an 8.9 inch screen. Mine has a 160 gig hard drive and 1 gigabyte of ram, and does what it does really well. I also have a Samsung with a 10.9 inch screen and it functions just as well. The Acer battery lasts about 3 hours but I could buy a larger capacity one if I wanted. The Samsung battery lasts for 7 hours, even though it’s rated for 9, but I’d be surprised if anyone gets that kind of life. The one thing I did was take XP Home off of these machines and install XP Professional. I hope you find one that you like. Good Luck

To compensate for this Microsoft is doing the following.
1. If you have an Xbox 360 Arcade, Microsoft is offering a 20 GB REFURBISHED hard drive along with 3 months of Xbox Live gold for $30 USD.
2. If you have the Xbox 360 Core version, Microsoft is offering you either a FREE 256 MB memory card, or a 20 GB REFURBISHED hard drive for $20 USD.
