Gateway T-6859u Notebook PC – Intel Core 2 Duo T6400 2.0GHz, 4GB DDR2, 320GB HDD, DL DVDRW, 14.1″ WXGA, Vista Home Premium..

So I decided to check if my kids school supply list was online yet. They are both in 4th this year. Well at the top of the list is says do not label anything as all items will be shared. What the hell is up w/ that? I can understand not labeling things like pencils, glue sticks and scissors. But not labeling their crayons, markers, spiral notebooks and folders is stupid. How do I make sure that my kids aren’t providing for kids whose parents are too damn cheap or lazy to buy them anything? How do I make sure that my kids don’t end up getting stuck w/ the cheap stuff when I buy decent school supplies. I don’t mind helping out those less fortunate. Just ask. Any other parents going through this that are fustrated. How are you going to deal with it? I’m tempted to mark their boxes of crayons, colored pencils, folders and spiral notebooks anyway. These items should not be community property. Thanks in advance.
Thanks oh5893b. I agree. I’m not here to provide other kids w/ school supplies just because their parents are too cheap or lazy to get them some. My kids are great at sharing their stuff. I just think that it should be their choice.

very frustrated.. went through the same thing.. We refused to supply community supplies like paper, notebooks pencils.. We put together a kit for my son and sent a letter of our intentions. Things like box of tissues etc we did supply… But like you said I was and not supply every freakin kid with school supplies. We were burnt the first year it happened.. It was not even 3 months in the school year and we received another list of supplies that "your child" needed.. When we confronted the teacher she said that there were many kids that could not afford or did not supply materials and they had to ask the parents for more supplies.. from that point on we supplied supplies for our son only.

ok i am 13 years old and I have a 4 year old laptop. It was my laptop that I got for christmas from my dads side of the family. I was offered a babysitting job and in four weeks (watching this child everyday) I will get 180 bucks… I was looking at a dell inspiron mini 10" netbook with intel atom Z520 processor (color black, new) for $298. I this a good deal I read the reviews and all of them were good. But can you download microsoft word 2007, games, clip art? Can you hook a printer up to the netbook and print thigs off? Does it have a good wireless internet rage? Do you have to buy internet to get one? Do you have to have a little microchip thing for memory or can you buy a portable memor storage thing for it the ones at best buy? The one I want is at best buy you buy it online…. but my mom and dad hve sucky cretit so if you baught the netbook on the spot or through the internet do you have to have good credit even in your paying in full for the netbook? Does the webcam really work?

I’m not sure about the Dell computers. People that I know who have purchased them (different from the one you specified) have had problems. I purchased a netbook that is the Acer Aspire One. It comes in lots of different colors. Mine is the pink one which is hard to find. If you want the Windows operating system (which you are probably used to and is the best choice) the price is about the same at $299. They sell them everywhere for about the same price. Every single website that I saw them on had excellent reviews so I went for it. Since you have a lap top now, how do you connect to the internet? If it is wirelessly then you can do the same with a netbook. Netbooks are good if you want something small and portable and don’t need a disk, cd or dvd drive. You can always hook one up externally if necessary but they don’t come with one installed. Mine has lots of USB connections so you can simply attach basically anything you need. They come with plenty of memory and are very good for connecting to the internet. I have a printer with a wireless function so that isn’t a problem for me.

Also, if you pay for something in full, whether it’s online or in person, you don’t need to have credit and it doesn’t matter if you have bad credit because you are not using a credit card or financing it. So you don’t have to worry about that. If you buy it online you can use a debit card that has a visa logo. Just be sure to deposit the money into the bank account. Your parents should know how this works.

Good luck!

P.S. Be sure to shop around at different stores and compare prices. Also be sure that you are comparing apples to apples. Sometimes they have what appears to be the same computer but it has less/more memory, etc. Print everything out and look at it carefully. These things can be very confusing.

I’m looking for a preetty good laptop for around $400 or less, new or refurbished. Also i would like it to have the wireless internet feature. I would be mainly doing school work on it but also some gaming. send me links please. thankyou!! 10 points to the best deal

2 ViDock2 Review Notebook Review External Graphics cardShows a Lenovo T400 playing Crysis using onboard graphics and then the newly released ViDock 2 which utilizes a standard desktop ATI 4670 graphics card. This graphics card connects to the computer over ExpressCard and allows you to beef up a standard business class machine (or an aging laptop) enough to play cutting edge games.
